Course Description

Offered for a limited time, the Mindfulness Facilitator Training Workshop is a supplemental, practice-oriented training designed for graduates of Brown University’s MBSR Foundations course.

This short-format, interactive training builds on the foundational skills taught in MBSR Foundations, offering additional opportunities for practice in guiding meditations and facilitating dialogue, peer and facilitator feedback, and deeper engagement with key elements of mindfulness-based teaching as they are offered in MBSR.

Whether you are actively facilitating or are looking to reconnect with these skills after time away, this workshop is designed to support confidence-building, practical application, and continued development within a supportive learning community.

Participants who successfully complete both sessions will earn the Mindfulness Facilitator credential, enabling them to lead short-form mindfulness programs and introductory workshops.

Graduates who have already earned the Mindfulness Facilitator credential through the updated Foundations curriculum are also welcome to participate as an opportunity for continued practice and facilitation development.

Course Outline

This program includes:

  • Two live, 2-hour Zoom-based workshops led by senior Brown mindfulness faculty
  • A group practice session, scheduled separately between live, online sessions
  • Emphasis on live practice, peer interaction, and real-time feedback

Participants must attend both sessions in a single series—mixing dates across different series is not permitted. Session dates and times are listed to the right.

Objectives and Outcomes

Upon successful completion, participants will:

  • Build confidence in holding group practice space and leading core mindfulness practices
  • Receive supportive, structured feedback from trained facilitators and peers
  • Deepen experience facilitating group-based mindfulness practices
  • Demonstrate competency in guiding core mindfulness practices
  • Earn the Mindfulness Facilitator credential, authorizing them to lead short-form mindfulness workshops and introductory programs

**Please note: This special offering is available for a limited time only. In the future, those seeking the Mindfulness Facilitator credential will need to either: (a) complete the MBSR Teacher Advancement Intensive (TAI) or (b) demonstrate competency via our 1:1 mindfulness consulting pathway.
