Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), is an effective, scientifically researched method for reducing physical and psychological suffering while building resilience, balance and peace of mind. 

 

Overview

MBSR is based on ancient contemplative practices integrated with western medical approaches by Jon Kabat-Zinn in 1979.

Brown University's 8-Week MBSR is an experiential, evidence-based program designed to provide participants with intensive and systematic training in mindfulness meditation and movement practices, and integrating one's daily life what is discovered and learned through the process of participating in the program.

A few additional considerations:

  • Please read and review our Mindfulness Disclosure before enrolling.
  • Note that the orientation is the first formal session in the 8-week MBSR program and attendance is required.
  • Please block out additional time for both the orientation and the final week 8 sessions; each may run up to 30-minutes longer than the weekly 2.5 hour classes.
  • This course has been approved for 73.5 continuing education hours.
