C-MBSR0101 - MBSR Foundations and Facilitator Training
Course Description
The MBSR Foundations and Facilitator Training is a 10-week, evidence-based program that provides in-depth exposure in the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course curriculum for aspiring mindfulness instructors. The program serves as the first step toward MBSR teacher certification, providing essential foundations for those pursuing the teacher training pathway.
Upon successful completion, participants earn the Mindfulness Facilitator credential, qualifying them to teach introductory mindfulness sessions and workshops in a variety of settings, including the workplace and in the broader community.
Participants will complete:
- 8-week MBSR program (2.5 hours per week, plus an orientation and all-day session)
- 10-week Foundations seminar (3 hours per week)
Through reflecting on and exploring one’s individual experience with meditation, the MBSR curriculum, and class dynamics, trainees delve into the very personal nature of mindfulness practice and begin to cultivate teacher qualities that will form the foundation of understanding the essence of MBSR and the aliveness and wisdom inherent in the curriculum.
The experiential nature of MBSR is reflected in the seminar through a variety of learning avenues. The program integrates mindfulness practice, self-reflection and teaching skills through live sessions, group discussions and individual assignments. It also includes home practice, reading and online activities (estimated 12–15 hours over the course).
